New Student Orientation

Welcome to Creighton University! My name is Michele Starzyk and I am the Associate Dean of Students at Creighton University. Together with a staff of 32 student leaders, we will work together to provide you and your family information about becoming a Creighton Bluejay.

Many of you may be wondering what is New Student Orientation at Creighton. Our mission explains that we will help ease the transition into the Creighton Community. More specifically, we hope to empower both students and families with the skills, knowledge, and resources that will enable our students to be successful at Creighton academically, socially, spiritually, and recreationally. Recognizing that we at Creighton are charged with helping educate the whole person, New Student Orientation seeks to give you a head’s start in your transition to Creighton.

Sessions at Summer Preview (summer orientation) will help explain what departments are available to answer your questions; Faculty Preceptors will serve as resources to review class schedules; participants will be given the opportunity to interact with others undergoing the same transition. Most importantly, we will introduce you to the spirit of Creighton.

By attending Summer Preview, we hope that you can begin to answer the question of how you will embark on your new journey as a member of the Creighton Community. Our student staff will help lead you on your way. We have no doubt that you too will soon embrace our community held value of Magis (“more” or “excellence”) and soon will be able to chart your own course at Creighton, in the Omaha Community, and in the future.

I would like to again welcome you to our community. I look forward to meeting you in the upcoming months. If you or your family have any questions, please feel free to contact me! I would be more than willing to chat with you.

Best wishes,

Michele K. Starzyk
