NIH Public Access Policy
Beginning April 8th, 2008, the mandatory NIH Access Policy applies to final peer-reviewed manuscripts accepted for publication. Making published research funded by NIH accessible to everyone, including health care providers, patients, educators and scientists, helps advance science and improve human health. NIH believes that everyone has a role to play in achieving this goal.
The NIH Public Access Policy was signed into law late in 2007. Compliance with this Policy is a legal requirement and a term and condition for all active grants and contracts awarded as of April 7, 2008. Failure to comply may trigger one or more enforcement actions, depending on the severity and duration of the non-compliance.
Creighton University has implemented a policy to comply with the new NIH policy. Links to the CU policy and necessary documents are listed below:
Questions regarding the CU NIH Public Access Policy are being answered by the Creighton University Health Sciences Library.
Additionally, please see the NIH Public Access Website for the tools investigators need to comply with the Policy. The website houses FAQs, training information, and other resources.
