How do I order graduation announcements?
Official Creighton University graduation announcements are available by Willsie Company through the Campus Bookstore, (402) 280-2796.
Hooding and Recognition Ceremony insert cards also are available. However, please check with your school first to find out if invitations to hooding and recognition events are provided.
Where am I supposed to be on commencement day?
Is there a rehearsal? No. There are no rehearsals for the commencement ceremonies. Listen carefully to the associate marshal's instructions on commencement day.
Instructions for Graduates and Seating Chart (pdf)
Students graduating at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony robe and line up for the procession at 8:30 a.m. in Hall A at the Qwest Center. The procession order will be: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, BSEMS, Law, and the Graduate School.
Students graduating at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony robe and line up for procession at 12:30 p.m. in Hall A at the Qwest Center. The procession order will be: Pharmacy and Health Professions, BSDH, Dentistry, Nursing and Medicine.
When will I receive my diploma?
To receive a degree, all academic and financial responsibilities must be met, including public safety and library fines, telephone services and bookstore accounts, etc. Graduates may pick up their diplomas after the ceremony in Hall A when they turn in their rental gowns and hoods. Please note, diplomas will be handed out only after the ceremony has ended. If you wish to pick up your diploma at another time, contact the Registrar's Office. Otherwise, diplomas not picked up graduation day will be mailed to the graduates permanent address. To ensure receipt of your degree, graduates should give correct address information to the Registrar's Office, (402) 280-2702.
What do I do with my regalia after the ceremony?
After the ceremony, the graduates return their gowns and hoods to tables in the same area where they lined up for the procession. Each graduate may keep the cap with tassel but must return the gown (and hood if a master's or doctor's degree is received) in satisfactory condition to the collection station along the west side of Hall A after Commencement.
Is there assistance for a graduate who has physical disabilities?
Yes. Are you or do you know of a graduate who has special needs and will participate in the commencement ceremony? Please contact Marketing and Public Relations with this information, (402) 280-2455.
Are there rules about commencement?
Graduates and guests are expected to refrain from any behavior that distracts from the dignity or safety of the ceremony. Any person with alcohol or fireworks will be removed from the premises and charges will be filed.
Do we need tickets?
No. Graduates may invite as many guests as they wish to their commencement ceremony; tickets are not required. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Saving seats for more than a few people is discouraged.
Where should I park?
Parking is available near the Qwest Center. Parking on the streets is free. Surface lots around the Qwest are $6. Garage parking is available for $10.
Creighton University will be running shuttles from campus parking lots (McGloin Lot and the lot between Burt and Cuming) to the Qwest Center all day on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Shuttles will begin at 8:15 a.m. The last shuttle from the Qwest will be at 3 p.m. The complimentary shuttles will run every 15 minutes.
