Post Master's Certificate
The Creighton University School of Nursing offers a Post Master's Certificate for the neonatal, adult, and family nurse practitioner roles as well as behavioral health. Admission to the program requires that a student have a master's degree in nursing from an institution of higher learning accredited by a nursing body and clinical practice in a direct care setting equal to at least 2000 hours of employment within the previous 3 years. The requirements for admission and the application process are the same as for
degree seeking graduate students.
To be granted a post-master's certificate, the student must complete a minimum of twenty-four (24) semester hours at Creighton University including a minimum of 500 direct care practicum hours.
Required courses for a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Post Master's Certificate* include NUR 653, NUR 654, NUR 606, NUR 651, NUR 660, NUR 666, NUR 770, NUR 772, NUR 655, and NUR 656.
Required courses for an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Post Master's Certificate include NUR 653, NUR 654, NUR 606, NUR 651, NUR 660, NUR 663, NUR 770, NUR 772, and NUR 792.
Required courses for Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Post Master's Certificate include NUR 652, NUR 614, NUR 615, NUR 616, NUR 622, NUR 633, NUR 643, NUR 644, NUR 702, and NUR 703.
*Students who hold an ANP certification and are seeking FNP certification will be required to take
NUR 655 and NUR 656 and 135 practicum hours with a maternal/child focus plus the above FNP courses.
