Accelerated Nursing Program Scholarship Opportunity

The Scholarship Program for Accelerated Nursing Students is in collaboration with several Nebraska health care organizations who offer full or partial tuition scholarships to Accelerated students in return for a three to four-year employment commitment. In addition to tuition assistance, these health care organizations may offer individualized orientations, educational opportunities and mentor and/or preceptor guidance during the first year of employment. Tuition is subject to change. Current costs may be found at the Financial Aid Office.

Accelerated classes start each January and August on the Omaha campus. (August only for the Hastings campus) If you wish to take advantage of the Scholarship Program for Accelerated Nursing Students, please complete the application for admission to the School of Nursing and the scholarship application and return both applications to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Creighton University School of Nursing.

Students admitted to Creighton University School of Nursing's (CUSON) Accelerated Nursing Program are eligible to apply for scholarships provided by participating Nebraska health care organizations. Interested students will complete a scholarship application form specific to the organization of their choice. This form will be sent to the appropriate scholarship sponsor(s). The form requires applicants to provide information related to grade point average and previous health care, leadership and community experience. An essay of 200 words or less based on the mission statement of the organization is also required. Students may apply to one or more of the sponsoring organizations. Completed scholarship applications must be accompanied by the Accelerated application and should be returned to the following address:

Scholarship sponsors will appoint a screening/selection committee that will assume responsibility for reviewing applications, conducting interviews with applicants and selecting scholarship recipients. Factors to be considered in the screening process and the weight assigned  to each factor are:

• GPA (20 pt)
• CNA/SNT/LPN experience (25 pts)
• previous leadership experience (15 pts)
• essay quality (25 pts)

Sponsors will notify CUSON and students of scholarship awards and will work with students directly to complete individual employment agreements

Accelerated Scholarship Application

Creighton University School of Nursing is partnering with two health care organizations to address Nebraska's nursing shortage by providing full or partial tuition scholarships to students accepted into Creighton University's Accelerated Nursing Program. Terms for each organization are listed below.

• 75% Tuition paid for three-year employment commitment
• 100% Tuition paid for four-year employment commitment
• After graduation:
  • Individualized orientation with experienced preceptor
  • Assignment of mentor
  • Monthly education opportunities
  • Tuition reimbursement for graduate education
