Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, M.D.
Born and raised in Omaha, Dr. Fitzpatrick spent her undergraduate years studying Communications at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and returned to Omaha for medical school at Creighton University. She joined the psychiatry residency in July 2004, and is currently a 4th-year resident who plan on practicing adult psychiatry. Dr. Fitzpatrick has been married 3 years, and she and her husband are expecting their first child in September 2007. Dr. Fitzpatrick hobbies include travel, exercise, watching sports, shopping, spending time with family (including 2 dogs), and trying new restaurants.
Katherine Hankins, M.D.
Dr. Hankins is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Her professional interests are women’s health care and collegiate psychiatry. She did an OB/GYN internship at LSU and OB/GYN residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. Her Family Practice residency was at Creighton University Medical Center where she was named the outstanding FP resident and a Burroughs Welcome Scholar. She also received the Mead-Johnson Award, the highest award the American Academy of Family Physicians can give to a resident.
Before moving to Omaha, Dr. Hankins lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she was the Health Officer for Chattanooga and Hamilton County, and also served as the OB/GYN Consultant to the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment as well as Chairman of the Junior Fellows in the American College of OB/GYN for Tennessee. Prior to entering the psychiatry residency program, Dr. Hankins was in private solo FP practice in Omaha. She is married to a physician (radiologist) with two children. Her hobbies include lap swimming, weight lifting and bicycle riding and she also studies Polish and German.
Dr. Hankins says "Our psychiatry residency program is excellent. We have the best faculty and group of residents I have ever known. My fellow residents are among my best friends. This past year, I served as the President of the Psychiatry Residents Organization. If you join our residency program, you will become a well-trained psychiatrist. Our department supports optimal professional development while respecting personal time and family life."
Gary Keller, D.O.
Dr. Keller was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where his parents still reside. He has one brother – "that yahoo, Greg, that thinks he's in this program too." Dr. Keller graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and then worked for three years in a hospital lab prior to medical school at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri (now Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences). He served as Associate chief in 2006-2007, and was elected the 2007-2008 Chief Resident.
Dr. Keller says "No real hobbies to write about; I collect rock music, movies, and enjoy gardening and anything to do with my house. Should play more tennis and ride my bike more, but I do enjoy that stuff. Huge Simpsons and south park fan!"
Gregory L Keller, D.O.
Dr. Greg Keller attended medical school at the University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine, (re-named Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005), in Kansas City Missouri, graduating in May 2004. He attended the University of Montana, in Missoula Montana for his undergraduate coursework, graduating in December, 1997 with a BA in Biology, emphasis in Cellular/Molecular biology, and a minor in Economics.
Greg served as an Associate Chief of our residency program, alongside his brother in 2006-2007, and moonlights as a staff psychiatrist/Officer of Day, at the Clarinda Treatment Complex in Clarinda, Iowa. Hobbies include music collecting, fishing, and bargain hunting.

Joseph G. Schaaf, M.D.
Dr. Schaaf is a rural Nebraska native who received his MD through St. Matthew's University and a Masters in Health Administration through St. Joseph's College. He is a long-time member of the U.S. Army, and will continue to serve after residency. His wife, Eva, is a nurse, and they live on a farm 30 miles outside of Omaha. They enjoy many outdoor activities, and upon leaving residency he will practice rural health care. They have one son who is currently in college and is also a soldier, who recently returned from duty in Iraq. Dr. Schaaf says "The residency program here in Nebraska has been a very good experience, we receive great training, from great faculty. The residents get along well with each other, and this makes for a friendly work atmosphere. If I had to do it over again, I would not hesitate in being a part of this residency program."
Tenycia Shepherd, M.D.
Prior to attending medical school at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Dr. Shepherd worked in pharmaceutical research and MDS Pharmiservices in Lincoln, NE. She also completed a summer research program at UNMC, prior to medical school, for the pharmacology department.
Dr. Shepherd is not married, and has no children. She was born and raised in Omaha, NE, and enjoys spending time with friends, going to the movies, reading and bowling.
Dr. Shepherd says "I graduated from UNMC in 2004 and started my psychiatric residency that same year. I held the position of secretary for the Psychiatry Residents Organization during my PGY II year, which consisted of taking notes at our weekly meeting, where any problems, concerns or other issues were addressed, and distributing them to my fellow residents."
Sheritta A. Strong, M.D.
Dr. Strong attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha as an undergraduate student before completing her medical education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her work experiences include interning with the Army Corps of Engineers, and laboratory research performing drug-uptake studies with Dr. Kabanav in the College of Pharmacy, as well as researching lead toxicity with Dr. Stemmer in the Department of Pediatrics Toxicology. Sheritta has served as past PRO Treasurer, and will be the 2007-2008 PRO President. She was honored as a "Local Dr. McDreamy" in 2006.
Dr. Strong says "I have been married for eight years to Damon and we have two handsome sons named Mason, 3 years old, and Mynor, almost one year old. I enjoy scrapbooking and spending some time outdoors. I like to play volleyball, basketball, softball, and football. Our team won the intramural volleyball championship during my second year of medical school. I am involved with the graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc for which I am celebrating my tenth year of membership. I serve on the health resources committee and plan to help increase awareness of mental health issues."
