Daniel R. Wilson, M.D. PhD.

Daniel WilsonDr. Wilson is a graduate of Yale, received his MD at Iowa, trained in Psychiatry at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School and subsequently earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology at Cambridge University.

Dr. Wilson served as attending faculty psychiatrist at McLean and Harvard for six years and gained further expertise in the genetics, neuropsychiatry, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy of mood and psychotic disorders in addition to much practical experience in student health psychiatry, forensics and medical administration. Thereafter, Dr. Wilson was Professor of Psychiatry, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Medical Director of the University Institute for Psychiatry and Law. He also served as Medical Director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health-Summit Behavioral Health and Chief Clinical Officer for Intensive and Specialized (Inpatient) Services. Dr. Wilson serves on a wide variety of professional committees and maintains an active clinical, administrative and consultative practice.

Dr. Wilson has received many honors including the Slyster Scholar (AMA), Falk Fellowship (APA), Rotary Fellow for Cambridge University, Life Fellow of the International Society of Police Surgeon and Overseas Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute. Hehas authored over 200 papers, books, chapters and other scientific communications over a range of subjects including psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology, forensics and evolutionary medicine.







Steven Wengel, M.D.

Chairman & Associate Professor, UNMC

Steven WengelSteven Wengel, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry, was named chairman of psychiatry for the Nebraska Medical Center in July 2005.

Dr. Wengel is an Omaha native and a graduate of the UNMC College of Medicine. He did his psychiatry residency and geriatric psychiatry fellowship in the Creighton-Nebraska combined residency program and joined the UNMC faculty in 1991.

Dr. Wengel currently serves as director of medical student education in psychiatry, and also is a member of the College of Medicine’s Admissions Committee.

His clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of dementia, mood disorders and other psychiatric problems affecting older adults, as well as the psychiatric complications of Parkinson’s disease and the pathophysiology and management of delirium.

William H. Roccaforte, M.D.

Residency Training Director & Associate Professor, UNMC

William RoccaforteDr. Roccaforte is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a BA in Biology in 1976, an MA in Biology in 1978, and received his MD from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1983. He completed his residency in 1987 at UNMC in the Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Roccaforte is currently Director of the Creighton-Nebraska Residency General and Geriatric Psychiatry Training Programs.
