Liturgical Ministries
As a worshipping community we are ALL called to actively participate in our liturgies through son, prayer, silence, and ritual action. Some are called to specific liturgical ministries to serve as greeters, lectors, ministers of communion, liturgical assistants, music ministers, and to assume other roles for the liturgies at St. Johns as well as at the special Creighton University liturgies.
Students are invtied to discern their gifts and offer them in service to our worshipping community in one of the areas of liturgical ministry.
Lectors
Lectors are called forth from the community to proclaim the Word of God. When we gather together to celebrate mass, we encounter God in the sacraments, in the presider, in one another, and in the proclamation of the Word of God. AS a lector at St. Johns,k your ministry call syou to help the community recognize God present in the liturgy of the Word.Students proclaim the Word of God at weekend liturgies and the various daily liturgies each week. A good speaking vo9ice, an ability to read in public, and a willingness to study scripture are necessary. Formation and training are offered in the fall and on an individual basis.
Ministers of Communion
Ministers of Communion, EME, assist the presider in distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ to the Faithful during Mass. It is a grace-filled opportunity to minister ot the St. John's and Creighton community. Eucharistic Ministers attend formation and training sessions and are scheduled each term for all weeekend and special liturgies. Formation and trainig is offered in the fall and on an individual basis.
Greeters or Ministers of Hospitality
Greeters or Minsiters of Hospitality help to create a welcoming environment at Mass for all those who come to worship. Greeters extend a welcome and sense of hospitalitiy by greeting arriving worshippers, distributing mass programs, and attending to other needs that may arise during liturgy.

The liturgical assistant assists the sacristan whenever possible while anticipating the needs of each presider and liturgical element. Liturgical Assistans are called upon to serve at the weekend liturgies, holy days and special university liturgies.
Music Ministers
Music Ministers help to lead the community in song with their voices and or instruments.
Cross Candle Bearers
Cross - candle - incense Bearers are needed at most weekend masses as well as for some University liturgies.
