Campus Ministry Internships (CMI) allow undergraduate students in Theology, Philosophy, Justice and Peace Studies, or related fields to explore ministry as a vocation and life calling. Internships require a comprehensive commitment to intellectual, spiritual, and practical growth in learning about theology, pastoral ministry, and spirituality. Components of the internship include prayer, spiritual direction, and journaling as a complement to working with the students and faculty of Creighton University.

Description of Program:
CMI requires a comprehensive commitment to intellectual, spiritual, and practical growth in learning about theology, pastoral ministry, spirituality, and ministry. Those who apply should already be enrolled in an appropriate course of study, and may apply for one-year internships.
Eligibility:
Eligible students include Creighton University Undergraduate Juniors or Seniors enrolled in B.A. in Theology, Philosophy, Justice & Peace Studies, or related discipline, in the academic year (AY) for which they are applying
Requirements:
Five hours per week for prayer, spiritual direction, and journaling, and an average of twenty hours per week devoted to the ministry internship in addition to the academic course load, is required. Interns must live in Omaha and work at Creighton on their internships from August 15--May 15 of the AY for which they are applying. Interns must be flexible in scheduling their work hours, including University breaks, evenings and weekends.
Ministry interns:
- will be expected to have an active prayer life and to be committed to a community of faith
- receive ongoing spiritual direction and formation as a healthy, integrated, and balanced minister, including attention to intellectual formation, spirituality, sexuality, and pastoral care
- keep a spiritual journal for purposes of ongoing discernment of vocation
- complete academic course work at or above the above-average (B) level for undergraduates
- submit an academic transcript documenting courses completed, grades received, and grade point averages to complete the application process; submit course grades to mentor for fall semester by January 3, and for spring semester by May 20
- complete an initial training program
- be mentored and supervised by a member of the Creighton Campus Ministry full-time staff in several facets of ministry, including, but not limited to: retreats, liturgy, faith formation, sacramental preparation, and music ministry
- participate in the events and liturgies sponsored by Creighton's Campus Ministry, and specifically, events and liturgies scheduled during student break periods
- participate in the Ignatian Retreat over Christmas break
- complete an integration essay, recording new skills obtained, students served, and explaining how CMI assisted the intern to explore ministry as a life calling
