White Coat Ceremony 2006
On Friday, August 11, Creighton University welcomed formally 126 new students into the medical profession. The induction took place at the annual White Coat Ceremony, held at Witherspoon Auditorium before the assembled faculty and the families of the students. Each student was presented with a white coat, symbolic of the medical profession and a copy of the book “On Doctoring,” courtesy of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Creighton’s class of 2010 hails from 32 different states and 69 colleges and was chosen from a pool of nearly 5000 applicants. Dr. Cam Enarson, Vice President for Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine charged the new students to follow the Jesuit values of service to others and the pursuit of excellence. He also highlighted the ongoing commitment of Creighton faculty and students to the tenets of professionalism. Enarson concluded the ceremony by leading the students in reciting the Student’s Hippocratic Oath.
Creighton’s annual White Coat ceremony is sponsored by a generous gift from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
