PDA Initiative

The School of Medicine is pleased to announce the development of an initiative to implement the use of personal digital assistants (PDAs) by third and fourth year medical students.  Students are now able to purchase an approved PDA through the Medical School, as well as have free access to a number of software applications to aid in the learning process.  The PDA will be used to run LARA, which allows students real-time, wireless access to patient information while at CUMC. Other helpful applications include Stedman's Medical Dictionary, PocketConsult, Thomson Clinical Expert and ePocrates.  Students will also be able to send and receive email through the Creighton network.

“We think this has the potential to change the dynamics of clinical education encounters, and we are excited to implement this endeavor.”  Says Dr. William Jeffries, Associate Dean for Medical Education.

All the information needed is available at the newly launched PDA website. The website provides a link to purchase the device, as well as access to downloading the programs.  Tip sheets are also available to assist in installation.   Click here to visit the site.
