Hurley Named Interim Chair of Internal Medicine

John A. Hurley, M.D., will serve as interim chair of the Department of Internal Medicine in the Creighton University School of Medicine, university officials announced today.

Hurley, an associate professor of medicine and co-director of Creighton’s rheumatology division, is a 1974 graduate of the medical school.  He joined the School of Medicine in 1977 as an assistant instructor, and was promoted to assistant professor in 1977 and associate professor in 1990.  He has received numerous awards for teaching excellence for his work with medical students and residents.

Hurley succeeds Eugene C. Rich, M.D.  Dr. Rich was recently awarded a 12-month health policy fellowship from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
