CU School of Medicine Class of 2008 Hooding and Awards Ceremony
The Creighton University School of Medicine Hooding and Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Qwest Center Omaha in the Grand Ballroom at 7:00 p.m. The graduates were hooded by this class’s Golden Apple faculty winners: Dr. PJ Malin from the Department of Psychiatry and Dr. Erica Cichowski from the Department of Internal Medicine.
The Class of 2008 is comprised of 123 students who were selected from 4,274 applicants, and came from 30 different states and one foreign country. Whereas 23 of these graduates received undergraduate degrees from Creighton University, the remaining students represented an additional 66 undergraduate universities and colleges.
Of these students, 20 were inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and 13 were inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
These graduates will be pursing residency training in a variety of areas including Internal Medicine (16), Pediatrics (16), Obstetrics and Gynecology (15), General Surgery (15), Anesthesiology (9), Family Medicine (9), Diagnostic Radiology (9), and others in Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Medicine/Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pathology, Peds/Psych/Child Psych, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, and Urology. The 2008 graduates matched into such prestigious programs as Mayo, Georgetown, Oregon Health Sciences, Washington University, Northwestern, and UCLA.
The faculty and staff of the Creighton University School of Medicine are extremely proud of the Class of 2008 and wish them much success!
