Major General Hawley-Bowland

Distinguished Alumna Visits SOM

Creighton University School of Medicine welcomed alumna Major General Carla G. Hawley-Bowland on Thursday, March 22nd.  General Hawley-Bowland visited with students, faculty and staff about her time spent at Creighton SOM (Class of ’78) and her subsequent career in the US Army.  General Hawley-Bowland currently serves as Commanding General, at Tripler Army Medical Center and U.S. Army Pacific Regional Medical Command in Honolulu, Hawaii.  General Hawley-Bowland spoke to students about the opportunities available through the Health Professions Scholarship Program.    While on campus, General Hawley-Bowland and her husband, Colonel (retired) Warren F. Bowland also spent time with Fr. John Schlegel and Dr. Cam Enarson.  They were given a tour of Creighton University Medical Center by Dr. Stephen Lanspa (also a member of the SOM class of 1978). The General and her husband were escorted by medical students Greg Skerrett (Class of 2007) and Ty Stratton (Class of 2009), President and Vice President of the Military Medical Students Association.
