Creighton Lecture Discusses Challenges Facing Medical Schools

Wiley W. ‘Chip’ Souba, M.D., regularly ranked as one of The Best Doctors in America by his peers, will be guest lecturer for a Creighton University School of Medicine Distinguished Lecture Series presentation, noon-1 p.m., Sept. 27, at Creighton University Medical Center, Morrison Seminar Room.

Souba serves as dean of the College of Medicine at Ohio State University.  His lecture, “Challenges and Opportunities Facing Academic Medical Centers in the 21st Century,” will explore the challenges facing medical schools and teaching hospitals and discuss new leadership skills required in today’s changing, turbulent health care environment.  He has published about 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals and co-edited an award-winning textbook, Surgical Research.

The Distinguished Lecture Series is sponsored by the Creighton University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, and Continuing Medical Education Division.  It brings in distinguished faculty and researchers from around the country to talk about emerging health sciences issues.  This lecture is worth a maximum of one AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
