Thesis/Dissertation Binding

Copying and Binding

Once your major advisor and committee members have approved your thesis:

1. Ensure you followed the guidelines on the Dissertation page.

2. Insert the Thesis Approval page as the 2nd page of the thesis, with a blank page before it.

3. E-mail your approved thesis (preferably in pdf form) to the Graduate Program Coordinator. A free pdf conversion program is avilable at www.dopdf.com. We will e-mail the pdf to the Copy Center for copies to be made.

When copies have been made and you are still on campus:

1. The Copy Center will contact Jami when the copies are ready for pick up. She will then let you know so you can pick them up.

2. Have your major advisor sign all copies of the Thesis Approval page.

3. Bring all copies of your thesis to the Graduate School (Administration Building, 1st floor). They will bill this department for up to three bindings. Additional copies are $25 each (the student's cost). The Graduate School will then send your thesis for binding. This usually takes 6-8 weeks.

If you are not planning on being on campus, Jami can have your thesis delivered to the Graduate School for binding.

Students who are not living in the Omaha/Metro area when their theses are bound can request that the Department of Biomedical Sciences mail them their copy. Requests for mailing must be made prior to your departure from Creighton.  Please inform Dr. Murphy's assistant as to where you would like them mailed.

The three copies are for:

1.  You, the student

2.  Your Major Advisor

3.  Biomedical Sciences Department, Chairman's Office

4.  If you requested more copies, those are yours to dispurse as you see fit.

Check periodically with the Graduate School to confirm when the bound theses have been received, if you are picking them up yourself.  If you do pick them up yourself, please make sure we get a copy, as well as your major advisor. If you will not be in town, the BMS Dept. will pick them up and deliver accordingly.

Electronic Thesis/Dissertation

Effective May 28, 2008, the Health Sciences Library no longer requires a bound copy. We will send them an electronic copy of your thesis, including the signed Thesis Approved by page. We will automatically place a one-year embargo on all theses/dissertations, unless you tell us otherwise.

The official guidelines are available here.

We will e-mail the Health Sciences Library with your electronic thesis.
