Interactive Area, Small Group Rooms, Computer Lab, Wellness Lounge and Exercise Room
Interactive Area
- Keep the area clean and orderly. Clean up spills with the paper towels and cleaning supplies available in each small group room. If you discover a major problem, contact the Office of Medical Education or after hours call Public Safety at #2104.
- Trash bins have been placed throughout the area for your use.
- The recycling bin is located by the printer. Contact the Office of Medical Education when the bin needs to be emptied.
- Do not use trash bins or recycling bins for disposal of confidential information. Disposal of such information must be done in shredding bins available in the Office of Medical Education, Office of Student Affairs, or at your rotation sites.
Small Group Rooms
- Turn off projectors when not in use. Projectors are meant for small group studies. Use the computer lab if you are studying by yourself.
- Return blinds to the default position (that would be UP) before leaving the room.
- Use the spray bottles and paper towels in each room to keep things clean.
- Knock on the door of a small group room prior to entering if the room is occupied. If you enter a room that someone else is using, ask the person if you can study with them. Respect the noise level of the room that you enter (if it was quiet study, keep it that way). OTHER OPTION = Place the Occupied / Unoccupied sign in the sign holder located on the wall next to the small group room (thus, you will know if you can enter or not).
- There are two small group rooms established for quiet study only. Feel free to join a room already occupied.
- If watching TV in a small group room, do not do it near one of the designated quiet study rooms.
Computer Lab
- Keep the lab clean. No food and no open-top containers of liquids are allowed in the lab. There are paper towels and a spray bottle in the cabinet under the printers.
- Make sure the projector is OFF when not in use. The projector is meant for scheduled, large group studies only.
- The lab is designated primarily as a quiet zone for study and work. Quiet discussions by 2-3 students collaborating on a project for presentation are expected. Larger discussion groups should find other facilities in which to meet.
- The computer lab is for the general use of all medical students. The only exclusive use times are during scheduled on-line testing periods and scheduled computer laboratories. We do not intend to close the lab for other meetings or gatherings. If a medical school group needs to meet in the lab to use the computers, please contact the Office of Medical Education staff.
- If anything in the lab is not working (or the way you expect it to work) contact the Office of Medical Education. They can only assist when they are aware of the problem.
- A limited stock of extra printer paper is available in the cabinets above the printers. Try to protect the free printing privilege by limiting printing to essential curriculum requirements.
- Doors to the Computer Lab should remain locked at all times for security and safety purposes.
Wellness Lounge
- Turn off the TV if no one is watching. Return the remote to the TV following use.
- Noise levels should be kept to a minimum.
- Keep the tables, refrigerator, microwave, sinks, and counter clean. There are cleaning supplies in the cabinets. Clean up spills immediately and vacuum as necessary.
- There will be a rotating assignment for cleaning out the refrigerator each week. Anything left in the refrigerator will be disposed of each Friday afternoon.
