PDA Recommendations

The Medical School is embarking on an exciting endeavor with an initiative to implement a PDA program in the Medical School. It is the intention of the program to enable you to have the resources at hand that will allow you to make the most informed decisions and diagnoses as you work with patients, doctors and other residents.

Purchasing a PDA

We have selected the handheld device we think will most effectively allow you to do this.  Here are the specifics for this device.

  • HP iPAQ HX2490 Pocket PC using Microsoft Windows Mobile 2005
  • A Windows based device.  – This was chosen to accommodate a smooth interface between the handheld and the Outlook mail and calendar we are all so familiar with.  It also seemed that the majority of the programs needed by the Medical Profession are Windows based.
  • This device has  Wi-Fi capability.  This is a must for use in the hospital as it is necessary for connection to LARA, the hospital database.
  • 2GB Memory Card is strongly recommended for use with the PDA.

To make this simple, we have negotiated a purchase price of $355.00 with free shipping from GovConnection.  Just follow the steps listed here to place your order..

  • Create an account by filling out the needed account information.  (If you have already purchased a laptop through this vendor, you will already have an account.  Just fill in the user name and password for that account and you will be able to continue.)
