Overview

Creighton students have the opportunity to spend an academic year, semester, or summer abroad.  The Study Abroad Coordinator works closely with each student to select a program that meets his or her educational, professional, and personal needs.  All students planning to study abroad must obtain approval from the OIP by submitting an Application for Study Abroad Approval

Each year, it is estimated that more than 200 Creighton students participate in study abroad programs around the globe.  These students come from The College of Arts and Sciences, The College Business Administration, The School of Nursing, and The Schools of Medicine.  With hundreds of program options to choose from, studying abroad is possible for students of any major!

Past Creighton students have studied abroad in: Argentina, Australia, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Why Study Abroad?  The answer, quite simply, is—you cannot afford not to. More than ever before, the acquisition of international perspectives, empathy for diversity, and foreign language competence is a fundamental component of an education that prepares students for an increasingly interdependent world.

The number of students going abroad before graduation is increasing each year. They want to study abroad to...

  • Experience life in a different culture
  • Improve language skills
  • Take classes not offered at Creighton
  • Explore majors
  • Examine their major within a different educational system
  • Become more independent
  • Broaden horizons
  • Get international experience for a job or career

You may ask why else should you study abroad? Well, why not? This is the best time of your life to live abroad. You can earn credit toward your degree, have a support network to help you both here and overseas, and receive financial aid, if you are eligible. So study abroad before the opportunity passes you by!
