Health Matters

Health Insurance: All international students are automatically enrolled in Creighton's Student Medical Insurance Plan upon registration. There are no exceptions to this process unless the Office of International Programs receives documentation that indicates the student is covered by a government sponsored insurance.

Immunization Requirements:

Creighton University requires immunization against specific communicable diseases to protect the entire campus community.

MMR Vaccine Requirement

2 MMR (Measles or Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines are required of all Creighton University students. Students born on or after January 1, 1957, are required to provide accurate documentation of two (2) vaccines for Measles, Mumps and Rubella. (MMR). Documentation must include the month and year of the immunization.  History of illness does not meet this requirement. 

International students can get the required immunizations from their home country and bring their immunization records with them alongwith a completed Health History Form (send with their admission packet).  Student Health staff will review these during New Student Orientation.

If the students do not have the dates of these vaccinations, a positive blood titer for measles, mumps and rubella will meet the MMR requirement. 

Vaccines can be administered at Student Health or by a private provider.

If a student does not meet MMR requirements, Creighton University will place a hold on the student's record preventing the student from registering for classes. The hold will be released when Student Health receives documentation of required vaccines.

Tuberculosis Screening Requirement

In addition to the MMR requirement, all international students are required to go through a PPD skin test if a student is from a country where TB is endemic.  More information including a list of these countries can be found on the Student Health weblink at: Creighton Immunization Requirements

Health Science Students

Students enrolled in the schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Pharmacy have additional immunization requirements which can be viewed at the Student Health weblink at: Creighton Immunization Requirements
