Is a weekly mentoring activity sponsored by HS-MACA. In the COPC Public Health Research Endowment program, we seek to incorporate a research seminar series, which has been a successful element of our NIH-supported Summer Research Training Program for Minority Students, into Common Grounds, to encourage health disparity students to pursue COPC public health research in medically underserved communities.
Common Grounds developed out of a mentoring activity initiated by Dr. Kosoko-Lasaki. Common Grounds is a multicultural forum that promotes an integrated academic and profession relationship among all students and faculty, making it an ideal context in which to present our seminar series on health disparities is understood as an integral part of the practice of medicine for all professionals, rather than as a “charitable” choice.
