Health Sciences – Multicultural and community Affairs (HS-MACA) Discovery Research Institute provides introduction to laboratory research careers. Discovery’s purpose is to facilitate high school students’ first-hand experiences in learning about aspects of scientific research and its importance to the environment. The two-week program consists of activities, field trips and education in laboratory research.
The goals are:
- Gain practical research knowledge and experience in the lab
- Engage in a program of activities centered on leadership experience, career opportunities, and lab experiments
- Experience positive interaction with scientists in the labs
- Expand student's knowledge in the field of research
