Grad PLUS loans
Grad PLUS Loan for graduate and professional students
Student Loan Primary Lender List Criteria:
Creighton University primarily uses the lender partners listed below based on several factors. Foremost, is the long experience in the student loan business each demonstrates, which in turn insures the capability to properly administer these loan options with integrity, compliance and outstanding customer service throughout the life of the loan. These lenders were originally selected as they were and still are the majority choice by Creighton students. Additionally, some lenders may offer benefits to the student such as payment on behalf of the student of required federal fees, non-capitalization of accrued interest on unsubsidized Stafford and Grad-PLUS loans and repayment incentives resulting in reduced interest rates. We continually monitor the benefits yearly to insure our lender partners provide nationally competitive benefits and a continued commitment to exceptional service to students.
Most returning students who borrowed Grad PLUS Loan funds at Creighton during the past 12 months do not need to select a lender or complete a new Master Promissory Note (MPN). We will automatically process your Grad PLUS application with your current lender for the amount you accept on NEST. However, if your lender in the past was Creighton Federal Credit Union, you will be required to pick a new lender for any new loans. Creighton Federal Credit Union has chosen not to participate as a lender.
Creighton University will process a loan application with any lender a student chooses. Students wishing to borrow Grad PLUS loan funds through a lender not listed below will need to e-mail the Financial Aid Office the lender name, address, and 6 digit lender code.
First time Grad PLUS borrowers: Below is a list of Creighton's primary lenders. If you wish to use one of these lenders, click on the lender name to complete your on-line Grad PLUS MPN. The last step of your on-line loan application will be an electronic message from the lender indicating if the loan has been pre-approved or denied. If your application is pre-approved, the lender will send an electronic notification to the CU Financial Aid Office for processing. By law, loan funds cannot be disbursed to the student prior to the academic term start date.
PLUS loans have a fixed interest rate of 8.5%. A 3% origination fee will be deducted by the lender from each disbursement. Repayment begins immediately upon graduation.
Many of the lenders listed below offer borrower benefits for the PLUS program. Please review the terms on each lender's web site.
