Applying for Financial Aid

  • Students and parents need to request a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the US Dept. of Education.
  • Be admitted to a degree or certificate-seeking program at Creighton University.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal Application for returning students on the web using your PIN by April 1st. Creighton’s school code number is 002542.
  • If requested, submit the CU Aid Application/ Verification form (undergraduate students only) along with signed and dated copies of student’s and parent’s prior year federal tax returns and W-2’s to the Financial Aid Office.
  • Award notifications for new freshman and transfer undergraduate students will be mailed beginning in mid-March. This will be your initial award and is subject to change based on completing the verification steps we ask of you. Any revisions will be posted on your NEST web page and you will be notified by e-mail to your Creighton e-mail account if an adjustment has been made.
  • For returning undergraduate students, awards will be posted to your NEST web page and you will be notified of your need to respond to the aid offer by an e-mail to your Creighton e-mail account. This process will begin in mid-March and continue throughout the summer.
  • Go to your NEST web site to accept your award. Check this site often to see if you have any outstanding requirements needed to finalize your aid offer.
  • First time Stafford Loan borrowers need to accept the loan offer  through student's NEST. Then select a lender and complete a master promissory note (MPN) by using the electronic application. Previous Stafford Loan borrowers need only accept their Stafford Loans via the NEST. They do not need to submit a new application.

If you don’t have access to a computer for your financial aid applications, you can use one of our’s! Come to the Creighton Financial Aid Office, Brandeis 218, during regular business hours.
