Getting Started for Students
You can get started with IT at Creighton even if you haven't yet arrived on campus! Check out these topics, and get your technology orientation squared away.
- Get your Virtual Identity
First you'll need a Network ID (NetID) and password. New students should receive a NetID automatically. If you do not know your NetID, click here.
- Get your Physical ID
Once you have your NetID, you can obtain a physical ID Card from Card Services. Physical cards can be used for resetting your password, library services, accessing buildings, Jaybucks, or identification. If you are upgrading your current card for physical access, click here.
- Reset your Default Password
A default password for our community domain called BLUE has been set for you. You should change it to something you can remember. Don't wait, do it now!
- Update your Contact Information
Get a primer on the account management interface, AMI, where you can update your personal information, monitor your mailbox size, etc.
- Get Logged In
With your NetID you can access several systems using your BLUE account which is your NetID and BLUE password.
- Get the Right Computer
Buying a computer to bring to campus? Got one already? Here are the minimum specifications, purchasing options, and a list of unsupported devices.
- Practice Safe Computing
Protect your computer with the latest patches, updates, and safe computing practices. Creighton offers antivirus tools and other utilities to help out.
- Get Connected
Learn about your network hookups in residence halls, our wireless hot spots, and register your networked devices (including your computer!) on Creighton's network.
- Get Your Email
With your NetID and BLUE password, you can access CUmail. Protect yourself from spam with Postini, and subscribe to your favorite campus mailing lists.
- Visit the N.E.S.T.
Nearly Every Student Transaction is completed on NEST. NEST is a student self-service web site that allows you to handle activities such as registering for classes or paying bills online. Learn more about the activities you can do online using NEST.
- Enroll in our Critical Alerts system
Sign up for our multi-channel communication system called CUAlert. This system is designed to keep you informed of any emergency or crisis situation that disrupts our normal operations or threatens the health or safety of our community members.
- Access Your Course Materials Online
BlueLine is Creighton's official Learning Management System (LMS), powered by Angel Learning. It is a feature-rich LMS for both online and onsite courses and groups, with an easy-to-use interface. - Get Your Own Web Space
You can have your own, personal web space at Creighton. Sponsored groups or clubs can, too. Find out how to create one, and how to use it.
- Blog It
You can have your own blog space at Creighton. Find out how to create one and use it.
- Check out Computer Labs & Printing
Creighton's computer labs are scattered across campus and are available for student use. They include PrintIT facilities if you need them for your printing needs.
- Get Your Telephone Connected
Learn all you need to know to bring a telephone to campus (land line, cell or both).
- Get Help When You Need It
DoIT's Service Desk is just a phone call away (402-280-1111) and can help with most any IT problem. But you can find additional help resources online at this site.
- Get Around Campus
Not sure where anything is? Use these Campus Maps, to find out where you're going or how to get to your destination.
- Libraries
There are three libraries available to students. Use these links to learn more about their hours and services. Reinert/Alumni Library, Health Sciences Library and Klutznick Law Library.
