Spotlight: Tessa Young

Powerful video presentations that can move an audience to both tears and laughter within minutes of each other are often the creation of Tessa Young. As a video producer for DoIT's Creative Services department, Tessa has the opportunity to explore every dimension of production from script writing, to videography, graphics, and editing. She graduated with a degree in English and Broadcasting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. During the next nine years, she worked at KETV primarily as a graphic artist but also taking turns at running camera and audio. Tessa decided to steer her career in a different direction when she joined Creighton University as a media producer in May 2000.

The scope of her work has been far reaching and represented the University to both internal and external audiences. She has helped to visually tell the stories of alumni merit award recipients, Mary Lucretia honorees, Creighton's presence in the community, and the university's accomplishments in research, patient care, and teaching.

Some of her greatest thrills have been the opportunities to travel and meet people who have made a difference to Creighton. She has served as the lead producer on projects taking her to New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, Houston, Las Vegas, Denver, Philadelphia, Washington DC and yes, inside the Pentagon. (She has the pictures to prove it...although they may be classified!)

Reflecting upon her career at Creighton, Tessa says, "Creighton University is an incredible place to work. Rich in history and opportunity. It is an environment of prestigious academia."

Her clients are equally grateful to have Tessa develop and direct their media projects. Public Relations' Robyn Eden recently worked with Tessa on videos for the Creighton campaign and found the experience to be very positive, "Tessa is a joy to work with. She’s very talented, conscientious, hard-working, and always wants to get it right. Her work on the videos for our Campaign Inaugural really succeeded in bringing Creighton to the Qwest Center, and sparked a lot of happy memories and smiles among our guests.” Assistant Vice President for Public Relations and Marketing, Kim Manning agrees, “Tessa is a professional expert that explores, inspires and transforms creative messaging.”
