Building Rewires and New Construction Initiative

This project is the result of Creighton’s commitment to provide an active, rich and dynamic learning network throughout all of its entities.

Building Rewires

Over the course of 2005, DoIT has been involved in the complete rewiring of two major buildings on campus. The goal of rewiring existing buildings is to position them for present and future technology needs to service CU faculty, staff and students.

The first structure addressed, was the Administration building which is over 125 years old. Besides the historical aspect of the building, wiring through walls 3 feet thick proved to be a unique challenge. Minor finishing touches are currently underway.

The second building to be rewired was the Law School. While the majority of the tasks were completed over the summer break, minor finishing touches are also underway.

New Construction

DoIT has been working with technology and security features of the two new campus parking garages, which are days away from completion.

The largest project that is underway is the planning for the new Living Learning Center that will begin construction in 2006. With classrooms, offices, theater, gathering spaces and much more, technology considerations are extremely important. DoIT is working collaboratively with many campus entities to bring to Creighton University, a state-of the-art facility. Watch as this exciting new building takes shape over the coming months!
