DoIT develops new technologies and strengthens the IT infrastructure in order to meet the demands of a 21st century campus. Changes in technology often raise questions as well as excitement and anticipation. The following FAQs are designed to explain some recent DoIT initiatives:
Goodbye Blackboard--Hello BlueLine!
Our transfer from Blackboard to BlueLine as our official Learning Management System (LMS) was complete as of June 1, 2008. As of June 2, Blackboard LMS is no longer in use.
Several faculty development and training sessions for BlueLine are scheduled weekly. Please watch JayNet News or CU Today for session dates/times.

Pipeline for Innovation
Now in it's fourth year, this faculty program awards $20,000 for innovative projects using technology in education. Proposals will be due by October 2008. Proposals will be reviewed by pedagogical and technical teams after submission. If you missed out on last year's deadline, consider taking advantage of this grant program designed to help faculty integrate effectively technology!

Hardware Purchase Requests
PURPOSE
The need to increase the reliability, security, and economy of Creighton’s IT environment is outlined in the hardware purchase request document. By ensuring close adherence to hardware standards, compliance with backup/recovery practice, regulatory compliance requirements, and consolidation and standardization of hardware purchases, the entire Creighton community will benefit.
This document provides the necessary information needed for purchasing hardware on campus. It also defines the roles of all affected parties and their responsibilities.
SCOPE
This guideline applies to all hardware purchases with or without installed operating systems defined as “servers” as well as data storage systems for electronic information.

Secure Email Beginning February 5th
On Monday, Feb. 5, Creighton University will launch a secure email solution that allows anyone using Creighton’s email system to securely send Protected Health Information (HIPAA data) via email. Building Rewire and New Construction
Network cables in some of our oldest buildings are being replaced as part of Creighton’s commitment to provide an active, rich and dynamic learning network for all of campus. New construction is also being designed and evaluated for network connectivity.
