Internet Explorer 7
In order to prevent possible disruption to production work, DoIT will block the automatic download of the Internet Explorer Version 7 (IE7) browser from Microsoft’s critical updates. The potential impact of this change in terms of how Creighton users do production work is significant. Applications such as Banner, Blackboard, IDX and many others require a specific level of Internet Explorer to work correctly. Our vendors’ products might require an upgrade for compatibility with IE7.
Users who wish to download and install IE7 may do so as long as they understand that IE7 is not supported nor recommended for usage on the Creighton campus at this time. Problems or failures associated with the use or installation of IE7 prior to approval for campus distribution will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
DoIT appreciates your understanding as we strive to standardize and streamline system management on the network. Once thorough testing has been completed and the product deemed stable for production, we will announce IE7 availability.
