Desktop Upgrades
Microsoft and Apple Computer are in the process of updating four primary desktop application sets used on campus:
- Internet Explorer, a web browser, from version 6 to version 7
- Vista, an operating system to replace Microsoft XP
- Office 2007 replacing Office 2003
- Mac OS Leopard, a Mac operating system, from 10.4 to 10.5
Each of these upgrades will have a direct impact on our campus. Your campus IT team wants Creighton to have the most up-to-date software but only after appropriate investigation and testing. In order to prevent possible disruption to you, your department, or to our Creighton Community, we are testing these new products in our current environment. We have cross-campus teams proactively reviewing each of these upgrades to determine how they will change the way we operate or how our campus systems such as Banner, Blackboard, IDX, etc. operate. With the research and final recommendations from these teams, we will determine when it is appropriate for Creighton to begin using these new operating systems and applications.
For each release we will issue separate CU_Official bulletins. For more frequent updates, we suggest you return to this web site.
If anyone has questions or concerns about these new Microsoft Releases, please contact Dana Olson at 280-2946 or email her at dolson@creighton.edu
