Events Management System

The Events Management system provides a registration system for activities and events for the Creighton community and guests.

The current Event System is being discontinued.  All access to the Event System will be removed by October 10, 2008.  Two replacement options based on the type of event you hold have been identified.  For further information on these replacements, see below.

Event System Replacement for Free Events

The solution for free events is EventBrite.  If your event is free, there is no charge to use it.  While it can be used for paid events, you should use Certain Registration instead.  There is no way to integrate EventBrite with our Banner Financial Systems to record your transactions.

To begin with EventBrite, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to http://eventbrite.com and create an account.
    We suggest using an alias email address such as hr@creighton.edu so that your account is not tied to one individual in cases of personnel changes.  Once an account is established, you can add users who will have access to the account.  You can use an individual's email address to create their user login.
  2. Read the Terms of Service very carefully.  There is no service level agreement.
  3. Training will be provided via EventBrite and their online tutorials and help text.
  4. Support is provided by EventBrite.
  5. Create your events.

Event System Replacement for Paid Events

The solution for paid events is Certain Registration.  This system provides massive functionality.  The cost to use Certain Registration will be collected from each department on a quarterly basis via the telephone billing system.  For each registration, you will be charged $1.50 and 2% of the revenue collected.  If there was no revenue collected, the cost is $2.75 per registration.  The cost charged covers the storage of your data, back up, redundant sites, application upgrades, training and support via a service level agreement. 

To begin to use Certain Registration, complete the following steps:

  1. Contact Dana Olson (dolson@creighton.edu) or Shelly Whittaker (swhittaker@creighton.edu) with the following information:
    1. Department name
    2. Primary contact name
    3. Primary contact's email address
    4. Primary contact's phone number
    5. Names and email addresses of users within the department
  2. Your login information will be sent to you along with a list of tutorials that you will need to complete.
  3. Complete the listed tutorials so that you know how to create events and find information within the Certain Registration system.
  4. Create your event.
  5. Support is available from Certain Registration for live events.  To request support, contact DoIT who will then contact the vendor.
