CUmail Email FAQ

CUmail is a complex system involving email, calendaring, and domain permissions. It is not unexpected that you might need some help. If these answers do not satisfy your questions, please call the Service Desk at (402) 280-1111.


Recovering a Deleted Item

  1. Click the Deleted Items folder in the Navigation Pane.
  2. Select the item that you want to recover.
  3. Right-click the selected item and select Move/Copy to Folder from the pop-up menu.
  4. Select a location to move the item to.
  5. Click the Move button.

Recovering a Permanently Deleted Item

You can recover permanently deleted items up to 30 days ago.

  1. Click the Deleted Items folder in the Navigation Pane.
  2. Click the Recover Deleted Items button on the Deleted Items toolbar.
  3. Select the item that you want to recover.
  4. Click the Recover button. (The item will be recovered to your Deleted Items folder.)
  5. Click the Close button when you are finished.

Limits

Email size - There is a limit of 15MB for each individual email sent. Email over this size will not be sent. You can check your mailbox size using AMI. Once logged in, go to "Account Information" located under "Exchange Account Management"

Student Mailbox size - Your total mailbox size can not exceed 150MB. You will receive a warning message when you reach 125MB. You will no longer be able to send email if your mailbox exceeds 140MB. At 150MB, all messages will be returned with a message to the recipient that you are over your quota. Your "Deleted Items" folder counts toward your quota. Be sure to empty this folder.

Faculty/Staff Mailbox size - Your total mailbox size can not exceed 300MB. You will receive a warning message when you reach 260MB. You will no longer be able to send email if your mailbox exceeds 280MB. At 300MB, all messages will be returned with a message to the recipient that you are over your quota. Your "Deleted Items" folder counts toward your quota. Be sure to empty this folder.

Blocked Attachment Types

The following attachment types will be blocked from being sent or received: VBS, SHS, JS, COM, BAT, CMD, PIF, SCR, CHM,VB, ASF, HLP, JSE, HTA, HTO, REG, SHB, VBE, WSC, WSF, WSH and EXE.

These attachment types are seldom sent for any purpose other than by worm and virus with the intent of causing harm to a computer.
