Creighton University: Willing to Dream

“Creighton has long believed that through the power of vision we could achieve great things. Now those of us with big dreams have the opportunity to wed our imaginations to our resources and make choices that will bring Creighton to a place of national preeminence and impact that none of us thought possible just a few years ago.”

– Bruce C. Rohde, BSBA'71, JD'73; manager, Romar Capital Group; chairman and CEO Emeritus; ConAgra Foods Inc.; and chair, Campaign Steering Committee

Willing to Dream

Even as we fully fund our priority objectives through THE CAMPAIGN FOR CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY, the entire University community will have the opportunity to dream together and consider unprecedented levels of support for several transformational projects. These opportunities will position Creighton to achieve new levels of leadership and national prominence, save more lives and provide our students with the best tools for their futures.

Biomedical Research

Long distinguished for teaching and patient care, Creighton University has never been more ready to move into the forefront of biomedical research, a critical component of our purpose as a dynamic academic medical center. We must build on our significant scientific and clinical resources and take our place along the vast frontier that develops new knowledge and begins to really understand the underlying mechanisms of disease.

The University seeks to grow substantially its research enterprise and build on its current strengths in cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease.

Creighton University is inspired by the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola and informed by Catholic medical ethics, Catholic norms of research conduct, and respect for the human person in all stages of health. From birth to end of life, our institution is solidly positioned to provide not only comfort and recovery, but also hope.

College of Business

The emergence of a global business culture creates a new obligation for business schools. Industrialization and growing wealth in Asia make the East strong new players in the global marketplace, while shifting supply channels and virtual work styles – made possible by the Internet – present only some of the dramatic changes that affect the way business is organized and conducted.

In this environment, the importance of Creighton’s values-centered business education, which combines business ethics with recognized programs in leadership, business management, accounting and technology, is more vital than ever.

The Creighton University College of Business, guided by a new dean and a new strategic plan, is shaping its dreams for new leadership in Omaha, the region and the world. International business ethics, values-based commerce and cultivation of the wisdom of Omaha as a leading U.S. business center only begin to explore the potential.

Honors Program

A university is a place to dream. It is a place that challenges complacency, sparks imagination and feeds aspirations to become fully alive. Creighton’s new Honors Program will be distinguished by intellectual curiosity, self-reliance and personal ownership of each student’s educational experience.

It gives a runway to the highly motivated students who want to explore their potential without the structure of four years of course requirements, yet benefit from the solid foundation of history, philosophy and theology. With a faculty advisor, honors students develop their own courses of study based on learning outcomes that they shape and follow – and their experience is enriched by activities outside the classroom.

Many honors students go on to doctoral programs in disciplines related to their majors and are enthusiastic about advanced study, focused on making new contributions to knowledge and competing more successfully for admission to the best graduate programs and professional schools.
