UNRESTRICTED GIFTS

By contributing to The Creighton Fund campaign goal of $30 million, donors can participate in our “second founding” through what cumulatively will be one of the largest gifts ever to the University.

Unrestricted annual gifts sustain the University by providing flexible funds that allow Creighton University to excel and constantly improve for our students, furthering our Jesuit, Catholic mission. Such gifts afford the University the ability to respond to exceptional opportunities as they arise, including: providing scholarships for students who otherwise could not attend Creighton; funding innovative academic initiatives; updating research laboratories; attracting and retaining respected faculty; helping Creighton University create an environment for faith in action, and more. Unrestricted gifts can be designated for general University use, or for a specific school or college.

The Creighton Fund annual giving program is the single largest source of unrestricted gifts to the University and its schools and colleges. THE CAMPAIGN FOR CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY seeks to step up Creighton Fund contributions from the current average of $5 million annually to $7 million each year.

Unrestricted gifts are especially valuable to meet the ever-changing, and often unexpected, challenges of the future. Unrestricted gifts are put to immediate use, and help hold the line on tuition.

ENDOWMENT GIFTS

Through THE CAMPAIGN FOR CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY, the University looks to grow its endowment to at least $500 million.

An endowment gift is a gift that will “live on” forever at Creighton University. Your gift can establish a new endowment fund, or add to an existing endowment fund.

Minimum support levels for endowments have been established to guarantee that income from the funds will be adequate to achieve the benefactor’s intent both today and in the future. Additional gifts to endowed funds may be made at any time and in any amount.

THE CAMPAIGN FOR CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY seeks nearly half its overall goal — $145 million – in endowments for people and programs.

Endowed Chairs

Help the University recruit and retain the very best professors and researchers.

An endowed chair provides distinguished faculty members – and Creighton University – with increased financial support, academic stature and educational renown. A recipient can receive no higher accolade than being named to a chair in his or her professional field.

THE CAMPAIGN FOR CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY seeks support for an Endowed Jesuit Chair, an Endowed Research Chair for Jesuit Mission and endowed faculty chairs.

    Minimum Gift (General University): $1,500,000
    Minimum Gift (Medical School): $2,000,000

Endowed Scholarships

Help to meet the ever-increasing need for student aid.

Endowed scholarships help Creighton fulfill its goals of providing support for those students most in need and encouraging the growth of a more diverse student body.

    Minimum Gift: $25,000

Endowed Book Fund

Although electronic databases are becoming increasingly popular, they will never replace the printed collections of libraries. Endowed book funds help supplement dwindling acquisition budgets and increase library holdings. An endowed book fund provides resources on a perpetual basis to support the ongoing acquisition of new scholarly publications. The endowment provides a permanent source of funding that offsets escalating costs.

    Minimum Gift: $10,000

PROGRAM SUPPORT

An investment in a favorite University program or department.

Creighton students, faculty and staff are involved in a wide variety of worthwhile programs that can benefit from your support.

Minimum Gift: Negotiable

CAPITAL CONSTRUCTION

A university campus must be dynamic, adapting and expanding to meet the needs of those who live, learn and work there. Through THE CAMPAIGN FOR CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY, the University seeks $99 million for its east campus expansion. This includes the Mike and Josie Harper Center for Student Life and Learning, Davis Square and Opus Hall junior-senior town home living communities and the Rev. Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Stadium.

Minimum Gift: Negotiable

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS

A gift designated for an annual award scholarship makes an immediate impact on the lives of Creighton students. These scholarships are awarded for the specific period of time as per the donor's request.

Minimum Gift: $1,000

LEGACY/PLANNED GIFTS

Planned gifts build on the legacy of Creighton University's founding family.

The University owes its heritage to the foresight of Mary Lucretia Creighton – widow of Omaha pioneer Edward Creighton – who left $100,000 in her will to establish a college in memory of her husband.

Throughout the years, many individuals have been inspired by the same ideals and have chosen to build on the Creighton family’s foundation. Regardless of the size of your estate, what has been accumulated is a testimony to your life, your hard work, your central values and commitments. What is transferred to the next generation, and how it is done, can accurately reflect your vision and goals.

To learn more about including Creighton University in your estate plan contact Steven Scholer, J.D., Director of Estate and Trust Services, or Robert Skrydlak, Assistant Director of Estate and Trust Services, at 402-280-2885 or 800-334-8794.

All individuals who notify the University of a deferred gift, naming Creighton as a beneficiary, are eligible for membership in the Creighton Heritage Society.
