Sociology is the science of society. Human beings live out their lives in a multitude of social relationships ranging from personal contacts to citizenship in the global community. Sociology looks at these relationships and how they affect the way we live.
Native American Studies uses a multi-disciplinary approach to understand and appreciate the rich history, vibrant contemporary life, and complex cultural diversity of Native peoples throughout North America. Our program is unique, the only such major in any Jesuit University in the world.
Anthropology is the science of culture. Human beings live in diverse cultural contexts. Anthropology uses its four sub-disciplines: Archaeology, Physical Anthropology; Linguistics and Cultural Anthropology to understand human diversity and commonality and applies this knowledge for the amelioration of the human condition.
