Majors
NEW MAJORS IN FRENCH, GERMAN AND SPANISH
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures now has new majors in French, German, and Spanish:
- B.A., major in French and Francophone Studies
- B.A., major in German Studies
- B.A., major in Spanish and Hispanic Studies
These new programs have greater breadth and depth than the former. They are also more structured, demanding, and competitive. Students who have already been admitted to the former majors in each of these languages may re-apply for the new major by selecting it on the Creighton Arts and Sciences website. (Please consult the University website for the Major Application Form.) Until May 10, 2008, those who have not yet applied for or been admitted to a major in French, German, or Spanish, may choose either the new or the old major program by selecting the correct title on the Major Application Online Form. After that date, all students applying will be admitted to the new majors in French and Francophone Studies, German Studies, or Spanish and Hispanic Studies.
It is strongly recommended that all first or second year students presently considering or admitted to a major in French, German, or Spanish apply for the new major. Please consult with your Academic Advisor prior to making this decision.
For detailed information on the above majors, click on the appropriate Language / Programs / Majors on this website, or consult the Registrar's electronic Bulletin.
