1. Students in good standing (QPA of 2.00 or above) may be
permitted to enroll in courses in other accredited institutions near their
homes during the summer months and, in exceptional cases, during the normal
academic year.
2. Prior approval of the Dean must be obtained for each
course. Students who complete transient
study without prior approval may not be permitted to transfer the credits to
Creighton.
3. Students will not normally be approved for more than 12
hours of transient study during their entire degree program at Creighton. *
4. CORE courses will be approved (within the overall limit of
12 hours total) provided that no more than one 3-hour course will be taken per
CORE area (A, B, C, D, E). Students requesting approval of certified writing
courses must demonstrate that the certified writing requirements will be met,
either by the course or through other arrangements with the department offering
the course. Students who have
transferred to Creighton will not be allowed to take transient study courses in
those CORE areas in which transfer credit has been awarded.
5. Courses in a student’s major normally will not be authorized
unless the department chair approves.

not be approved for transient study at another institution. Note that this
includes courses in which the student has earned grades of “D”, “F”, “WF” or
“AF”.
7. Students must earn a grade of “C” (including C-) or better
in courses approved for transient study in order to be awarded credit by the
College of Arts and Sciences.
8. The final 32 hours of course work must be taken at
Creighton.
9. Grades in transient study courses are not computed in
determining a student’s Creighton QPA.
10. Quarter hours are equal to 2/3 semester hours. (e.g. 5 quarter hours = 3 1/3 semester
hours). Fractions are added together and given TRF 000 credit.
*Certain distance education
courses taken at institutions outside the College are included in this 12
hours. Consult the College and the
Distance Education Approval Form.
