M. Chad McBride, Ph.D. joined the faculty of Creighton in Fall 2003. He is the Coordinator of the Managerial Communication course and has taught courses in interpersonal, small group, and gender communication as well as communication theory and research methods. In his research, he is interested in how individuals communicatively co-construct situated identities in both our social networks and larger culture. In doing so, he studies communication within personal relationships and families, often using Facework and Communication Privacy Management as theoretical frameworks. Additionally, he studies communication about personal relationships by examining broader cultural representations and discourse about relationships in the media. His work has been published in outlets such as Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Journal of Family Communication, Communication Studies, Communication Reports, Electronic Communication Journal, and Handbook of Conflict Communication.
