 Anna E. Richert is a professor of education and director of the Teachers for Tomorrow’s School MA Program at Mills College in Oakland, CA. Her work as a Carnegie Scholar focused on the use of web-based representations of teaching practice in professional education. Her current focus is on the use of these materials for teaching professional dispositions and other relational aspects of excellent teaching practice.

William M. Sullivan is co-director of the Carnegie Foundation’s Preparation for the Professions Program. He is formulating a research design for the comparative aspects of the studies, drawing out common themes and identifying distinct practices in professional education. The author of Work and Integrity: The Crisis and Promise of Professionalism in America (2005) and a coauthor of Habits of the Heart: Individualism and Commitment in American Life (1996), Sullivan examined the link between formal training and practical reflection in effective education.

 

Closing Plenary Panel Discussion

 "In what ways can or should the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning be informing national educational movements/policies?" 

Panel Participants include: Scott Chadwick, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Canisus College (moderator); Tony Ciccone, Carnegie Foundation, Senior Scholar and CASTL Director; Gary Gordon, Gallup Organization; Amy Haddad, Director, Center for Health Policy and Ethics, Creighton University; and Maryanne Stevens R.S.M., President, College of St. Mary's.

In the spirit of Town Hall Conversations, a panel of educational leaders and SoTL experts will individually address the question while interacting as a panel to foster a lively discussion around the emergent issues. Questions and responses from the audience members are strongly encouraged.
