  1. When is the registration deadline?

Registration began February 25th and will continue until May or until all openings are filled. (175 Participant Maximum) 

  1. If I am interested in becoming a scholar, when do I find out if I have been accepted?

Notification letters will be sent by March 15, 2008.

  1. If I am applying to become on of the 28 scholars, do I still registrar to reserve my spot at CASTL?

Yes. Scholars need to formally register for the institute. You may register as a participant/scholar anytime after February 25.

  1. Team rates are $1000.00 for two people. Does this include the Pre-Institute Workshop, Leadership Forum, and the Institute?

The team rate includes full participation at the Pre-Institute, the Forum and the Institute. Additional members will share the complete range of training and learning opportunities for only $350 per person.

  1. Are scholarships available for students planning on attending the institute?

Full-time students are invited to attend and begin their development as SoTL scholars. Although “formal” scholarships are not available form the institute, “informal” subsides in the amount of $150 are applied to all full-time students. Students are further encouraged to seek scholarships or other focuses of aid from their home institutions.

  1. If I am new to SoTL, do I have to take the Pre-Institute Workshop prior to attending the Institute? Will I be behind if I don’t?

It is recommended but not required. The workshop lead by national experts, will proved foundational materials to ground you in the vocabulary, processes, and models or SoTL research.

  1. What does it mean to be accepted as a scholar?

Scholars are participants who submitted a SoTL in progress project for competitive review and who were accepted as one of our top 28 proposals. Scholars will be assigned a mentor and join a cohort of 3 other scholars; each scholar will be a featured presenter and will receive feed back from his/her cohort, mentor, and institute participants.

  1. Can we select only one track for SoTL and stick with that track, or can we mix and match the individual workshops?

Workshop tracks offer participants a range of options; you may select one series or a workshop track, if that meets your interests or needs. You may also select workshops, across tracks to better address your interests and/or levels of expertise. You are encouraged to maximize your learning across the workshops.

  1. Is there transportation from the airport to the hotel?

All 3 hotels provide a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. Please contact your hotel to make arrangements. Cab service is also available if you prefer.

  1. Is there transportation from the hotel to Gallup Riverfront Campus? Is there parking at Gallup Riverfront Campus if I drive?

Transportation between the hotels and Gallup Riverfront Campus, our conference host site, will be provided at pre-arranged schedules. Also, parking is available at Gallup in the visitor’s parking lot.
