Career & Academic Planning (CAP) Program
In 1994, the Career & Academic Planning (CAP) Program was created under the umbrella of the Creighton Career Center.
Creighton recognized that a strong relationship exists between academic and career goals, so the CAP Program was established to better assist students in reaching their goals by combining resources in one convenient location.
The CAP Program is designed to supplement, but not replace, the current faculty advising system. The CAP Program is located in the lower level of Brandeis Hall (B-03), next to the campus Bookstore. Contact Sandy Ciriaco or Linda Dunn for an appointment.
CAP Program services include:
- Academic Advising, including help with major and course selection and referral to other sources of academic information on campus.
- Career Advising, including goal clarification, finding career options, exploring abilities, values and interests, developing job marketing skills, resume and cover letter writing.
- An extensive Information Library including academic programs, career planning, job listings, and graduate/professional school information.
- A variety of activities and events designed to enhance students' exploration of their personal and professional aspirations, such as information fairs and educational seminars.
- Resources to help students plan and organize their academic and career goals throughout their college years. Students can call to make an appointment with a member of the CAP Program staff, or they can simply drop in and pick up information or ask questions. Students who become familiar with CAP Program resources early on (as Freshmen or Sophomores) are usually more prepared for the transitions they face after graduation.
