Jim Bretl has worked in the Career Development Field and Student Affairs in Higher Education for 26 years at four different midwestern universities. Prior to Creighton, Jim spent 22 years at Marquette University in Milwaukee and served as the director of Marquette's Career Services Center from 1996 - 2003. He came to Creighton in December of 2003.
Jim is responsible for directing the Employer Relations activities of the Career Center, providing career programming support for students & recent alumni and supervising the overall activities of the Career Center and the Career and Academic Planning (CAP) Program. Jim has recently taken on the responsibility of managing the second year advising program (Creighton's Ratio Studiorum Program).
Jim has an undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University (1980) and a master's degree in Student Development from St. Cloud State University (1982). Jim lives with his family on a small farm in rural Council Bluffs, Iowa.
