Business student receives award, continued

The Spirit of Creighton Award is given annually to the students who represent the best qualities of the University's founders. Recipients are honored for their initiative, enterprise, academic achievement and outstanding character traits.

Joey Ortega received this award during commencement ceremonies over the weekend.  Ortega is an accounting/finance major from Denver, CO.  He graduated summa cum laude and participated in a variety of service, career and leadership activities during his time at Creighton.  He was among the first group of students to bring Youth Leadership Omaha to campus.  He also completed an internship with former President Bill Clinton and helped manage the college's $2.5 million portfolio as a member of the Portfolio Practicum class.

Ortega plans to attend law school at NYU next fall and eventually earn his MPA at Harvard.
