Social Networking Committee
The Social Networking Committee planned a number of successful activities for Creighton young alumni last year, with many more to come in the near future.
The start of the school year found the committee hosting its first young alumni event of the year. During the second-annual “Hilltop Jam,” hosted by the Alumni Association, the Social Networking Committee threw a “Mai Tais on the Mall” party for young alumni. This coincided with Creighton’s Reunion Weekend and took place in the courtyard of the new Opus Hall on-campus residence, with the lights of Morrison Stadium shining brightly in the background. The committee will build on this successful event next fall, when they host “Mojitos on the Mall” during Reunion Weekend 2008, Sept. 26 and 27.
Then, in December, the committee hosted a young alumni pre-game party prior to the Creighton men’s basketball game against North Carolina Central. The festivities included complimentary appetizers for alumni and their guests, as well as a cash bar. Young alums received a free ticket to the game with a donation to the Jay Stomp food collection project organized by the Service and Recognition Committee.
More than 500 young alumni from around the area attended the party. Some even left with door prizes, and everyone enjoyed the Bluejays’ 88-54 victory over the Eagles.
