2008 School of Dentistry Reunion Weekend

School of Dentistry alumni returned home to Creighton on April 24-26 for Destination Creighton: Reunion Weekend 2008 activities, in conjunction with the Spring Dental Assembly. Included in the weekend activities were reunion celebrations for the classes of 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988 and 1998.
The festivities kicked off Thursday, April 24 with continuing education classes, an Anointing of the Hands Mass, welcome reception, followed by a Dean’s Club Dinner at Happy Hollow Country Club.
On Friday, April 25, the School of Dentistry Alumni Reception and Dinner welcomed over 400 guests at the Qwest Center Omaha. The Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J., Creighton University president, and Steven W. Friedrichsen, D.D.S., dean of the School of Dentistry, welcomed alumni and friends back to Omaha. Ray A. Lyons, DDS’79, received the 2008 Alumni Merit Award at the dinner and members of the classes of 1958 and 1983 were honored as this year’s Golden and Silver Jays. This year’s Reunion Giving Classes (1998, 1988 and 1983) donated a total of $86,400 in unrestricted gifts in support of the School of Dentistry.
Tours of the school and campus occurred during the weekend and a trolley tour of downtown Omaha was offered on Saturday morning. Later that evening, individual class reunion gatherings were held at various locations throughout Omaha.
