Conferences
There are two conferences this fall that may be of interest to your faculty who teach service-learning courses. The first conference is sponsored by the Midwest Consortium for Service-Learning in Higher Education, occurring September 21 - 23 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Creighton is a member of the Consortium. This conference will be helpful to faculty who want to learn how to improve communication and collaboration with community partners or how to improve their assessment of student learning in service-learning courses. Information about the conference is available online at si.unl.edu/mcconf/ . The Office for Academic Excellence and Assessment (AEA) has grant funds available to pay the conference registration fee for attendees from Creighton. Interested faculty should contact Michele King (mking@creighton.edu) in the AEA office. The registration deadline for this conference is September 1.
The International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Conference will be held November 9 - 12, 2006 in Washington, D.C. This is a premier SoTL conference. Information about the conference is available online at www.issotl.indiana.edu/ISSOTL/ . The Office for Academic Excellence and Assessment (AEA) has grant funds available to pay all costs associated with participating in this conference for up to seven faculty members who are willing to engage in and submit for publication an SoTL article about their service-learning course(s). Faculty wanting to learn more about the competitive process for applying for these funds should contact Michele King (mking@creighton.edu).
