AEA Staff
Mary Ann Danielson, Ph.D. Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Mary Ann directs the Office for Academic Excellence and Assessment. She also provides teacher development programming along with the AEA Associates and Consultants, manages the Assessment Academy, and will be hosting the 2008 National CASTL Institute. | |

| Stephanie R. Wernig, Ph.D Stephanie heads the Institutional Research Office and is the primary resource for university-related data. Institutional Research is responsible for compiling all external surveys and questionnaires which relates to national rankings and reports. That Office also coordinates, analyzes, and interprets data from recurring and adhoc projects involving Creighton students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

| Michele M. King Michele provides support for the programming and decision support provided by AEA. She coordinates the logistical facets of the AEA faculty development programming, the on-going university assessment activities, and the planning for the 2008 National CASTL Institute. |
AEA Associates
AEA Associates work with AEA staff to develop and deliver individual and small group faculty development workshops covering issues related to teaching, learning, and assessment. Associates, who may be faculty or staff, also work with the AEA Director to facilitate academic year-long workgroups on focused topics of interest to teachers at Creighton. AEA Associates are provided $2,000 for their personal faculty development use in each of their two years in the program. The Associates are competitively selected from applicants across the university. Each year, each AEA Associate will:
- Provide four one-hour faculty development workshops or two semester-long workgroups (or some combination thereof), and at least one Time-Out for Lunch discussion group.
- Participate in monthly discussions with other AEA Associates about teaching, learning, and assessment issues.
- Become part of the Creighton community of teachers and scholars interested in building a culture of assessment and learner-centered teaching our university.
| Brenda M. Coppard, Ph.D., OTR/L Brenda teaches in the Department of Occupational Therapy, and has been active in new faculty development. As a 2008-09 AEA Fellow, Brenda is conducting the New Faculty Workgroup. The workgroup is focused on teaching, learning and assessment practices.

| Charles Timothy (Tim) Dickel, Ed.D., NCC Tim has been a faculty member at Creighton since 1976. He teaches in both the teacher and counselor education programs in the Education Department and is part of a research team in the Department of Psychiatry. Tim was an associate with the Office of Academic Excellence and Assessment 2002-2004 and has returned for 2007-2009. He has a strong interest in assessment and has published in the area of values assessment in distance. Tim is currently developing structured activities to improve the content of student papers.
Gintaras K. Duda, Ph.D.
Gintaras joined the Department of Physics in 2003, and is currently teaching general physics and quantum mechanics. Although his primary research area is astro-particle physics and cosmology, he is also interested in physics education research particularly using technology in the classroom and techniques to facilitate active learning. He is an active SoTL scholar, and he is leadering a year-long Beginning SoTL Faculty Workgroup. Gintaras joined the AEA Fellows in 2007.

| Lynne E. Houtz, M.S., Ph.D. Lynne is interested in sharing what she has learned about teaching skills, particularly modifying instructional strategies for students with differing learning styles. She looks forward to helping faculty develop their assessment skills, including identifying and measuring the achievement of learning objectives, proposed grant outcomes, and outreach programs.

Kathryn D. Huggett, Ph.D. Kathryn Huggett works with medical school faculty, both clinical and basic science, to promote scholarship in education, master educational leadership, and develop and become more effective classroom educators. She will extend her reach by working with faculty across the campus on the scholarship of teaching and learning, particularly relating to student values and professional dispositions.

Deb Ponec, Ed.D., NCC Deb returns to the AEA as a Senior Associate. She will extend her efforts of the past two years focusing on embedding and assessing Ignatian values in the classroom. This year, she will work with the faculty and staff she led in a year-long Ignatian values seminar last year to develop and enact a mentoring program for others faculty and staff who want to be more intentional about embedding and assessing Ignatian values in their work with students. |
