As we cross the mid-point of the summer, there is a lot of activity on campus. Camps of all descriptions abound. Vacation, or at least a few days away from the place, sounds like a good idea for many of us. This is the last update until mid-August. Not much to share, but enough to make the effort.

The four Summer Preview programs were very successful. From all account " parents, new students, and Creighton participants " the activities and information sessions were useful and informative. More than one “new student” wanted to get started right away! We assured them that nothing would change between now and August 20th. In fact, things would be even better organized and prepared for their arrival. Thank you to all responsible for such a successful series of events: Student Services, Academic Affairs, Public Safety, and, of course, the students who took time off from their summer vacations or jobs to host the newest members of our community!

Our projected enrollment is stable and strong across all programs. We anticipate 970-980 first-time freshmen and 100 transfer students. The professional schools all report making their enrollment targets. The second Summer Session is slightly ahead of last year.

The four major construction sites are very animated. Hard to say how much progress is being made on such large footprints, but I am sure they are moving right along. The weather has been very cooperative, although the landscaping could use a little rain.

Please welcome the new Dean of the College of Business, Dr. Tony Hendrickson. Dean Hendrickson began on July 1st. Dr. Steve Friedrichsen will take over the helm of the School of Dentistry on August 1st. Again, thanks to Dr. Wayne Barkmeier for his eleven years of service as Dean of Dentistry. And a warm note of gratitude to Dr. Debbie Wells for an exceptional year of service as Interim Dean of COBA.
