Computer Forecast

Background

In order to maximize university resources and garner the best pricing for PC computer purchases, the PC Vendor Team has agreed to consolidate the purchase of PCs for the University into 3 bulk purchases.

Forecasting

Forecasting is important in negotiating the bulk purchase prices.  Unless otherwise posted, departments should use the current prices posted on the Computer Hardware Provider page located under Contracts.  For areas that cannot exactly determine the quantity and types of computers, we encourage a conservative estimate.  Unfulfilled estimates can negatively impact the entire University by increasing the per system price.

Forecasts must be by system type.  Current models and specifications are provided on the Computer Hardware Provider page located under Contracts.  For specialized needs, i.e. labs, a modified configuration can be requested by the department.  We do not encourage modifications on single purchases.

To forecast, complete the online request by clicking on Forms and selecting Computer Forecast.

Purchases outside the Bulk Order

Order requests made after the forecast deadline will be held until bulk order placement.  If you require the system prior to the bulk order delivery date, please identify on your order request this need.  I.E. "RUSH" or "NOT IN BULK ORDER"

Order requests processed outside the bulk order will be at a higher system price.  The current price will be posted on the Computer Hardware Provider page and is valid for 90 days.

Apple system requests are not included in the bulk order and will be processed when received in Purchasing.
