Tornado Shelters

Please familiarize yourself with the storm shelters located in academic buildings and residence halls.  Follow the emergency procedures (link here) in the event of a tornado or severe storm. 

  • Administration Building: All floors, Business Office vaults, east and west corridors on the north side of the building; Jesuit residence, center (east and west) hallways. 
  • Ahmanson Law Center: Gross Appellate courtroom.
  • Alumni Library: Basement area except window areas on the west side; hallways adjacent to Media Services and the Union Pacific Room.
  • Becker Hall: Lower corridor between Gallagher and Kiewit.
  • Bio-Information Center: The areas adjacent to the elevator,and interior rooms.
  • Boyne Dental School: Bottom floor, hallways away from windows, locker/restroom areas, lecture rooms 108, 137, and 149.
  • Brandeis Hall: Lower level Bookstore interior, south side away from windows.  Alternate shelters are in the basements of Deglman and Swanson Halls.
  • Cardiac Center: Basement interior areas.
  • Center for Health Policy & Ethics: Offices and stairwell in the rear of the building away from the main entrance.
  • Child Development Center: Go to the interior tornado shelter within the Center.
  • Clinics: Where basements are part of the building, go to the basement.  Where no basement is available, go to the interior of the building and away from glass.
  • Creighton University Medical Center: Follow the CUMC Emergency Procedures.
  • Criss Complex
    • Criss I: Lower hallway of the Rigge Science Center.
    • Criss II and III: Entire basement.
  • Davis Square: All residents go to Basement Room B15 in the west building.
  • Deglman Hall: Basement areas.
  • Eppley College of Business Administration: Lower level of the Rigge Science Center.
  • Gallagher Hall: Basement.
  • Gymnasium (Old Gym): Interior hallways away from windows.  Athletics: locker rooms, shower rooms.
  • Heider Hall: garage area.  Stay away from the entrance door.
  • Hitchcock Communication Arts: None. Go to lower level of Rigge Science Center.
  • Hixson-Lied Science Center: Interior rooms on bottom floor away from glass.
  • Human Resources: Center kitchen/restroom area between Human Resources and Public Relations.
  • Humanities Center: Lowest level of the building in the interior, away from windows.
  • Jahn Building: Interior rooms away from windows.
  • Jelinek Building: Rooms 142, 143, 145 and small conference room 139.
  • Kenefick Hall: Garage area.  Stay clear of entrance doors.
  • Kiewit Fitness Center: Classrooms 113, 116, exercise room on northeast side, and tunnel between Swanson hall and the second floor of the Center.
  • Kiewit Hall: basement.
  • Kitty Gaughan Pavilion: Bottom floor, locker/restroom areas.
  • Linn/Labaj Buildings: Bottom floor/interior rooms.
  • Lied Center for the Performing Arts: Bottom floor, interior.
  • McGloin Hall: Bottom floor interior rooms away from glass.
  • Markoe Hall: Conference Room 111.
  • Military Science (ROTC): Vault.
  • Murphy Building: Women's and men's restrooms.
  • Opus Hall:
  • Pittman Building: Interior offices away from windows.
  • Pre-Hospital Education (Kellom Plaza): Interior rooms away from outside walls.
  • Public Relations: Center kitchen/restroom area between Public Relations and Human Resources.
  • Retreat Center (Griswold, Iowa): Basement of dining hall.
  • Rigge Science Hall: hallways on ground level; hallways and classrooms on lower level.
  • Soccer Stadium: Women's and men's restrooms and concession area.
  • St. John's Church: Basement.
  • Skutt Student Center: ballroom.
  • Student Health (Kellom Plaza): Interior rooms away from outside walls.
  • Swanson Hall: basement, first two floors of the north stairwell.
